Sustainable

All of our design decisions are made with consideration of environmental sustainability and relative cost. This includes indoor air quality, resource efficiency, building flexibility and adaptability, and building durability. We also believe in contributing to regional and community sustainability-through the recognition and continuity of important regional architectural styles, and by facilitating community-based design.

We are working with the Massachusetts Department of Corrections to develop a panelized wall system for use in affordable housing. The panel employs advanced framing and insulating techniques to increase resource efficiency (less wood and more insulation) than conventional construction. Prison inmates are building the panels as a part of their carpentry training program. The panels will be available to non-profit affordable housing developers for the cost of the materials and shipping, greatly reducing their overall construction costs.
